Ice Update + end of this LJ

A couple of things to announce. First of all:

OH MY GOD ICE IS UPDATED!! ... nearly a year after the last update ... dear lord. I apologize for that. But I was ... uh, busy and kidnapped by aliens and stuff. And after all that time, only five new pages ... but whatever! An update! Hurrah! ... another cliffhanger!

My New Year's resolution is to finish Ice this year, so I'm going to try hard to do that. Probably one or two pages every other week, which is a schedule that's worked well for me in the past, and hopefully I'll be able to scrape together some time for, despite my currently insane workload. I want it finished. It's so close to the end anyway.

In an attempt to streamline things, I'm going to be discontinuing updates on this LJ, and instead announcing them on my "personal" (although it's not really personal any more) LJ, smuu. I really hope everyone who watches this LJ for the updates will keep an eye on the other one from now on. I've kind of stopped using this LJ anyway, and didn't even bother to update it when my latest graphic novel came out (The War at Ellsmere! It was out December 3rd, so you can buy it now!). It's annoying to update multiple LJs, and smuu becoming more of a 'hey, lookit my comics and my stupid opinions on comics!' blog anyway, so ... yeah. I'm a one-blog woman. Except for the sketchblog, that is. That one'll remain separate, for various reasons.

So anyway, I would like to thank everyone who've been a part of this update blog, and I hope you'll join me over at the other blog, where content is posted more often. In the mean time, here are links to everything of mine on the internets:

My most recent graphic novel: The War at Ellsmere (SLG Publishing)
My debut graphic novel: Zombies Calling (SLG Publishing)
My current online comic (updating): Ice
My first online comic (complete): Demonology 101
My website: Suspicious Polo Players
My blog: smuu
My sketchblog (with friends): killthehubble
My deviantart account.
... and my twitter account.
Closing thought: This August it will have been TEN YEARS since I started Demonology 101. TEN YEARS since I started doing comics! Crazy.

Any chance Ice or Demonology 101 will ever see a print version?

Five pages is better than none! (And so many of my favorite webcomics come back from hiatus with like, one page.) I'm so glad to see you haven't vanished utterly.

Wow. Ice!

I went back and reread the current chapter. There's such a leap forward in your art, between last year and this year. I hope that doesn't sound like I'm saying the old stuff is rubbish. I've been a fan since Demonology 101, and I've long admired your style. But all this comic-making you've been doing is really refining your talent.

I got War of Ellsmere and read it over the holidays. Any chance you'll return to that school? It was such an interesting setting. The characters were great, but I think the setting could hold more stories, even with a different cast.
I remember your early drawings of the school girls and a unicorn, before you were talking about it in terms of a book with names and such. I had expected a lot more unicorn-ness, and was pleasantly surprised to find it to be something along the lines of Mean Girls, with unicorn cameo.

I'd like to return to Ellsmere, as I think the setting would lend itself well to a series, but unfortunately I have to concentrate on making a living now... it's hard to find time to do comics. :(

I KNEW IT I HAD A FEELING THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO...THAT PERSON. THAT IT HAPPENED TO. YEAH.

Sorry trying not to spoil it for anyone else :) But oh gods amazing build up of suspense and what a way to end it. Also I have noticed an ever so subtle change between the last update and this update. There's definitely a crispness to the art that wasn't there before. Not quite sure how to describe it. Anyways good luck. Sounds like you have a quite a load on you but I hope you get everything done :)

Strange I think now of something you had posted way back during the Demonology era where you lamented about if you would ever be a real published author and now here you are. A real published author. Again good luck with everything

Thank you! I've been struggling a lot with my art lately, so it's great to hear you guys are seeing improvement. After all, your opinions matter more than mine, 'cause you're the readers. ;)

I feel incredibly lucky to be published and actually making a living (sort of!) in comics. However, it's always hard to see that when you're three or five years into that journey... I went through a long period where I never thought I'd be published. Now that I am, I'm afraid I won't be able to sustain it! But that's just the fear talking. I need to tell that fear to shut up. ;)

Ah readers. Our is a noble and lofty calling.

No worries. You've worked hard and done fine so far and will undoubtably continue doing so, as long as you stay the course and keep the faith and to thine own self be true and all that good sage-y stuff :) There's a lot of artists out there that have that cherished dime flipped at them and think that's enough to certify them as a Real Artist(tm!) I've seen a lot of excellent hard-working artists out there without that dime and a lot that THINK they deserve that dime and don't do a damn thing to earn it and a lot out there who work their asses off and deserve the thousands of dimes they DO end up getting.

But in the end it's a dime. That's all. Payment received for work. So...keep working and remember why you want to tell your stories :)

My room-mate and I followed Demonology 101 when we were in college (she was the one who got me hooked on it) And yes you have really come a long long way with your artwork, an astonishingly long way over the years! So tell the fear to GTFO because you've proved it wrong time and time again

I'm loving the new pages. It's great to be seeing this comic updated! I'm a long time fan. I've also really been enjoying your most recent works (Zed C, Ellsmere). It's always fun watching the art change and improve. I do think the older, nittier, grittier style suited Ice a little better though. Please don't see this as a complaint; it's not meant as one, just an observation.

Animation is my passion. I just love it and this is a cool site I am going to get lost in for a long time. Love it!

I know its completely unrelated to the post, but I was wondering why episodes 2 and 3 of demonology aren't online, I just got through with the first and was looking forward to continuing.
Thanks

Demonology 101 - episodes 2 and 3 don't work

Hi there!
I found your comic by chance and I thought it really good, sadly the second and third episode don't seem to be working. I couldn't open any of the pages, it told me something along the lines of: "page could not be found, go back to main page". All the other episodes work, though, but you seem to have posted them in a different manner.

love Ice, out of the comics I've seen online, I'd have to say it's probably my favorite.
My friend agrees and I plan to get more friends reading Ice, because its got such a great story line.

Eagerly awaiting more updates!
